Call for Volunteers to Serve as Vice-President or Advisory Committee Member of the PAC

Dear Postdocs,

The Postdoctoral Association of Colorado (PAC) is a volunteer organization of postdocs that hosts networking events for postdocs, identifies and makes recommendations about policy issues affecting postdocs, and collaborates with CU-Boulder’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) on career and professional development activities.

The PAC is currently looking for a new Vice President and Advisory Committee Members. Please see below for more information on each position.

                                                                                 Vice President

The ideal candidate will be able to commit to serving on the PAC for at least 2 years: one year as a vice president, followed by one year as a president. The Vice President can expect to contribute approximately 5 hours/month to PAC activities.

On a monthly basis, the Vice President will help plan events and meet with the senior leadership in CU-Boulder’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and the OPA Director. This team works together to identify topics of interest and concern to postdocs; to plan, invite speakers, and host events for the PAC; to review the content, use and usability of the PAC website; and to represent postdoctoral researchers on campus and in the region.

The incoming vice president will also have the opportunity to participate in the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) and to attend NPA events and conferences.

Becoming vice president of the PAC is a great opportunity to learn how a complex organization works from inside. Additionally, you will gain key experience in public speaking, networking, and management and will also learn some business skills along the way.

                                                                                      Advisory Committee Member

The PAC is also creating an advisory committee and is giving you the opportunity to contribute to the PAC as a member. The goal of the PAC advisory committee will be to work to improve postdoc experiences and provide a voice for various university committees. We are looking to bring together a variety of different perspectives and backgrounds to the committee, and would like to include both junior and senior postdocs. Meetings will be held every quarter. Help us to understand the needs of postdocs in such a broad community as ours and make a difference!

                                                                                      Application Instructions

Interested postdocs should prepare a letter of interest specifically addressing which position you are interested in and why, as well as your qualifications. Please upload your letter of interest and CV to the following link: Apply Here

The application deadline is February 19, 2016.

Make your voice count!
